About Me

Hi! Welcome to my blog, where I share my journey to a simpler, more creative life.

I’m Kathelle, a Christian, wife and mum of four living in a Scottish Highland village. I’m an island girl at heart, having spent the first 18 years of my life in the Outer Hebrides. Here’s a few random facts about me…

My daughter’s 6th birthday cake

I enjoy drinking tea (not coffee), reading sweet historical fiction (often featuring cowboys), baking bread and special birthday cakes.

Classic authors like Jane Austen, Louisa May Alcott and Elizabeth Gaskell are much loved and I will most likely be listening to one of their books on audible at any given time.

I am not a fan of anything creepy, I have a thing against messy drawers and I have a dislike of over-scented laundry detergent.

My favourite music is Classical, though I am not particularly knowledgeable about it, and I enjoy Scottish Gaelic/Folk bands too.

While I enjoy most crafty endeavours, my favourites are sewing and quilting. I occasionally do some crochet but I don’t have the brain capacity for knitting at the moment, maybe I’ll get into it more when the kids are bigger!

My mission is to be the best homemaker I can be. This goal may seem old-fashioned to some but I truly believe it is crucial in our current society to take care of our homes to create a space where our families feel safe, nurtured, accepted and loved.

Despite the fact that this is something incredibly important to me, I have struggled with putting my own stamp on the role, as it were. I want to combine efficiency with creativity and structure with fun. Expressing my artistic side has always been a part of me and I wish to explore the balance between my individual interests and overall family wellbeing.

My core motivation comes from my faith, my trust in Jesus Christ as my personal Saviour. If it doesn’t honour Him, it’s not worth doing. If it is worth doing, it’s worth the effort.

This blog, is an extension of what I have learned and achieved, focusing more on creativity at home with some musings along the way. My desire is to encourage and inspire you to make each day a bit better and to enjoy the little things that make life. Simplicity, creativity and personal improvement are my goals, and, if you are the same, I hope you join in the journey. After all, life doesn’t have to be perfect to be worthwhile!
